About

Ride in Asia is a big bike rental company and tour organiser based at Sukhumvit 33 in Bangkok, with around ten years in the Thai rental trade behind it. Almost uniquely it works from the capital rather than Chiang Mai, so its routes run south to the Gulf coast and Phuket or northeast into Isaan rather than into the northern mountains. Every tour is offered in two forms: fully guided with an English-speaking leader, or self-guided at a substantially lower price with the same bike, hotels, GPS and support. The rental fleet is built around larger touring machines, including the BMW R1200 GS Adventure and R1200GS, the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Honda X-ADV 750. Optional extras include a pick-up support truck, 24-hour roadside assistance and airport transfers. Riders must be over 18 and hold an international motorcycle licence.

Bangkok to Phuket

Bangkok, Thailand

Seven days, six nights and 1,879 kilometres down the whole length of peninsular Thailand and back, from the Bangkok office to Kamala Beach on Phuket by way of Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phang Nga, returning up the Andaman side through Ranong and across to Hua Hin. This is the biggest tour in the Ride in Asia range and the daily distances show it: two days exceed 380 kilometres and the third day out is 474. In exchange the route takes in mangroves, red cliffs, wooden bridges, limestone formations, the Rattanarangsan Palace at Ranong, the Cicada Market at Hua Hin and the Tha Kha floating market on the run home. Guided, it costs 96,600 baht per rider; self-guided is 59,100 and a pillion seat is 25,700.

Bangkok Northeast Loop Through Isaan

Bangkok, Thailand

Five days, four nights and 1,452 kilometres in a loop out of Bangkok into Isaan, the northeastern region most motorcycle tours in Thailand skip entirely. The route runs through Khao Yai National Park to Nakhon Ratchasima, up through Khon Kaen to the Mekong town of Chiang Khan, back south through Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park to Lop Buri, and home via Ayutthaya. Distances are substantial, with day four covering more than 500 kilometres across two legs, but the payoff is a stretch of Thailand where the roads are quiet and the tourist traffic thins to almost nothing. Ride in Asia publishes the guided price at 82,200 baht per rider, with a self-guided version at 50,100 and pillion seats at 10,700. Several national parks along the way charge their own entrance fees, which are not included.
