About

Thai Bespoke Bike Tours runs guided road tours out of Chiang Mai and traces its roots to a rental shop opened in 2002 as Tony's Big Bikes. Guided touring was added in 2013, the business took its current name in 2023, and the present partners took over in 2025. Belgian partners Lander Loos and Dick Campens lead the riding side, with Yasumin Loos, a Thai national holding a Tourism Authority of Thailand guide licence, handling tour administration and local guiding. The touring fleet is small and mid-capacity: a Suzuki V-Strom 650 as the default machine and the pick for two-up riders, plus a Honda CB500X and a lower-seated Honda CB500F, all fitted with crash bars and top boxes. Groups of five riders or more travel with a support vehicle and driver, and tour leaders work in English, French and Dutch.

Highland Bound: The Mae Hong Son Tour

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Four days and three nights on the Mae Hong Son loop, ridden anticlockwise out of Chiang Mai and covering roughly 750 kilometres in total. Thai Bespoke Bike Tours counts 1,864 curves on the route and treats it as its signature short trip: a full circuit of Thailand's most mountainous province without the padding of a longer holiday. Days are moderate rather than epic, with the second leg running only about 150 kilometres, which leaves time for a lunch stop in a Chinese settlement on the Burmese border, a long-tail boat ride to Karen villages and an afternoon spent on the Salween River. Riders need real time on large-capacity machines and should be able to hold an average of 80 to 120 kph. The published price of 38,000 baht per rider covers the bike, fuel, gear, three nights of private accommodation and two meals a day; pillion passengers are quoted separately at 13,000 baht.

Chasing Dragons: The Infamous Golden Triangle Tour

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Seven days and six nights covering the eastern half of northern Thailand, from the quiet green province of Nan up to the point on the Mekong where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet. The centrepiece is route 1148, a hundred kilometres of low-traffic ridgeline tarmac that regulars rate above the better-known Mae Hong Son roads, followed by the Phu Chi Fah national park and a run along the Mekong to the Golden Triangle proper and its opium museum. A rest-paced fifth day in Chiang Rai mixes temples with dirt, and the final leg climbs through the Doi Ang Khang royal project area before dropping back into Chiang Mai. Thai Bespoke Bike Tours runs it all year round and prices it at 67,000 baht per rider, with pillions at 22,000 baht. The figure covers six nights of private accommodation, the motorcycle, fuel, gear, breakfast and lunch, and a TAT-licensed guide.
