The tour that covers the most ground and the most climate. It starts in the thin air of the altiplano, drops the Death Road into humid jungle, spends two days on the pampas among pink river dolphins and caiman, then loops home through the UNESCO Jesuit Mission towns of the eastern lowlands.
Fourteen days from the Andes down into the Amazon: La Paz, the Death Road descent to Caranavi, a pampas lodge at Rurrenabaque and the Jesuit Missions on the way back. Twenty per cent dirt, topping out at 4,650 metres.
