Quantum of Solace: Salt Flats and the Coloured Lagoons, 16 Days

The tour that goes where a loaded motorcycle sensibly shouldn't. After the salt flats the bikes are parked and a 4WD takes over for two days of pure dirt through the south-west desert, reaching 5,010 metres among the Laguna Colorada flamingos, before the ride resumes south to Tupiza and the warm valleys around Tarija.

Sixteen days combining 2,300 km by motorcycle with a 650 km 4WD leg into the south-west desert, where the coloured lagoons and their flamingos sit above 4,500 metres. Thirty per cent dirt on the bike, all of it on the 4WD section.
