Negombo, Sri Lanka
This 9-day tour by Ride On Sri Lanka starts in the highlands and finishes in the Cultural Triangle. After the climb from Negombo through rubber and tea country to Nuwara Eliya, it visits a tea factory on the way to Kandy, where a tuk-tuk city tour includes the Temple of the Tooth, and stays at a resort facing the Knuckles range. From there it descends the 18 Bends and rides along Maduru Oya National Park to Polonnaruwa, visits Sigiriya Rock Fortress and spends a night at Nilaveli Beach near Trincomalee. The last riding days bring a jeep safari in Wilpattu National Park, a guided bicycle tour of Anuradhapura, the Avukana Buddha Statue and the Dambulla Cave Temples, before the bikes are returned and the group transfers by van to the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo. The operator rates it at intermediate level, with about 80% paved and 20% bumpy roads and three to five and a half hours of riding a day, not counting stops. Accommodation is in 4 star hotels and resorts. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is the standard bike and suits riding two-up; the Royal Enfield Himalayan and Honda CRF are among the alternatives. Entrance fees, the Wilpattu jeep safari and optional excursions are not included in the price. One departure is scheduled, 21 to 29 April 2027, for a maximum of 10 riders, and the tour can also be arranged on request for groups of four or more. Riders need a home motorcycle licence and/or an International Driving Permit, and bring their own helmet and riding gear.
