Negombo, Sri Lanka
This 15-day loop by Ride On Sri Lanka combines the Cultural Triangle, the national parks of the east and south, the south coast and the Central Highlands. After a first riding day from Negombo to Anuradhapura, it visits ancient Anuradhapura, the Avukana Buddha Statue, Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Polonnaruwa, then crosses the Knuckles range to Kandy for a rest day. From Mahiyanganaya and the 18 Bends it heads south-east through Gal Oya, Lunugamvehera and Yala National Parks to Kataragama, with a jeep safari in Yala before the coast road to Galle and a second rest day by the beach. The last section passes the edge of the Sinharaja Rainforest and the Wangu 10 hairpins to Udawalawe, then climbs to Ella, Lipton's Seat, Horton Plains and Nuwara Eliya, with the final night at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo. The operator rates it at intermediate level, with about 80% paved and 20% bumpy roads and two to just under six hours of riding a day, not counting stops. Accommodation is in resorts and boutique hotels. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is the standard bike and suits riding two-up; the Royal Enfield Himalayan and Honda CRF are among the alternatives. Entrance fees and the Yala jeep safari are not included in the price. Three departures run between January and March 2027, plus a summer edition from 27 July to 10 August 2027 that follows a different route through the less visited east and north to avoid the south-west monsoon; the operator sends that itinerary on request. The tour takes a maximum of 10 riders and can also be arranged on request for groups of four or more. Riders need a home motorcycle licence and/or an International Driving Permit, and bring their own helmet and riding gear.
Fifteen days and about 1,625 km on a Royal Enfield Classic 350, looping from Negombo through Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Yala, Galle, Ella and Nuwara Eliya to Colombo.
