Three days on the back of a bike with a local easy rider who has ridden these passes for years. The route covers the heart of the Ha Giang Loop: the climb out of Ha Giang City, the karst plateau around Dong Van and the switchbacks of the Ma Pi Leng Pass above the Nho Que River. Riding pillion means you watch the scenery instead of the road, which on the loop is a serious argument. Nights are spent in local accommodation along the route. Fuel, entrance fees and your rider are included, so the day is riding, eating and looking, in roughly that order.
