Jungle Tabanan Trail (Full Day Enduro Ride)
Tabanan, Indonesia
Overview
A technical guided day ride through the jungle, rainforest and rice fields of Tabanan, with around 1,460 metres of climbing across 40 to 55 km. Obstacles include logs, rocks, dense vegetation and river crossings, and sections overlook the UNESCO listed Jatiluwih rice terraces. The full day runs about eight hours and ends with a sunset ride on Tabanan Beach.
The hardest of the Tabanan day rides and the one aimed at people who already ride. The trail runs 40 to 55 km through rice fields and rainforest between about 56 and 591 metres of elevation, with roughly 1,460 metres of climbing and 1,740 metres of descent packed into the day. Obstacles are natural rather than built: dense vegetation, logs, rocks and river crossings, with sections that look out over Jatiluwih, the UNESCO listed rice terrace area. Parts of the route pass through areas that are usually off limits, and the guides use the stops to talk through local customs and food. In the wet season the ground turns slippery and muddy, which makes it a serious day even for advanced riders. The full day is around eight hours and finishes with a sunset ride on Tabanan Beach. A shorter four hour morning option covers the jungle only. Both start and end at the Bali Dirt Bikes Basecamp.

Itinerary
The day starts at the Bali Dirt Bikes Basecamp in Pangkung Tibah with a briefing and a full set of gear. From there the route heads inland into the Tabanan jungle, working through rice fields, rainforest and single track with natural obstacles the whole way: dense vegetation, fallen logs, rocks and river crossings. Elevation swings between roughly 56 and 591 metres, and the day totals about 1,460 metres of climbing and 1,740 metres of descent across 40 to 55 km. Some sections overlook Jatiluwih, the UNESCO listed rice terraces, and parts of the route pass through areas that are normally restricted, where the guides stop to explain local customs and food. Lunch is a la carte at a local restaurant. The full day runs around eight hours and closes with a sunset ride along Tabanan Beach before returning to the basecamp. A half day option covers about four hours in the jungle in the morning. In the wet season the mud and slippery ground make this trail demanding even for advanced riders.
