4 Days Moto Tour from Errachidia to Merzouga
Errachidia, Morocco
Overview
This is the shortest of the operator's published itineraries and the one it points first-timers towards. Four days, three nights, starting and finishing in Errachidia, with published daily distances that make it easy to judge the commitment: 50 to 80 kilometres on day one, 180 on day two, 100 on day three and 200 on day four. The design is sensible. Day one exists to get riders comfortable on the bike before anything demanding happens, and it uses the Ziz Valley to do it, a long green corridor of palm groves and villages cut into otherwise dry country. Day two is the transit south through Erfoud, known across Morocco for its fossil workshops, and Rissani, whose souk is one of the oldest trading places in the region, ending at the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga with an optional camel ride at sunset. Day three is the reason to come. It is a full off-road loop in the desert around Merzouga, visiting the village of Khamlia where the Gnawa community plays music their ancestors carried across the Sahara, meeting a nomadic family, and riding out to the abandoned M'fis mines and the black desert trails. The night is spent in a luxury desert camp. Day four heads back over the Alnif plateau and through remote Berber villages, with the terrain shifting from open flats to mountain track before Errachidia. Included in the package: a fully fuelled dual-sport motorcycle, three nights across a hotel, a guesthouse and the desert camp, breakfast and dinner daily, a local guide, a support vehicle, the camel ride in the Merzouga dunes and transfers to and from Errachidia airport or hotel. Not included: flights, midday lunches and drinks, riding gear, which can be rented, travel insurance, personal expenses and the motorcycle damage deposit. One thing to know before enquiring: Morocco Sahara Moto Tours publishes no prices anywhere on its site. Every itinerary is quoted individually after a conversation over WhatsApp or email, and the operator adjusts routes to the rider's level before confirming.
A short desert loop out of Errachidia on KTM or Honda dual-sports, built around the Erg Chebbi dunes and the black desert tracks behind them. The first day is a deliberately easy 50 to 80 kilometre warm-up through the Ziz Valley, a green ribbon of palms and villages, before the 180-kilometre run south through Erfoud and Rissani to Merzouga. Day three is a 100-kilometre off-road loop taking in Khamlia and its Gnawa musicians, a nomad family, the abandoned M'fis mines and a night in a luxury desert camp; day four returns across the Alnif plateau on a 200-kilometre stage that shifts from open flats to mountain track. The operator rates the tour intermediate and says it suits experienced off-roaders and adventurous newcomers alike. The bike and its fuel, three nights of accommodation, breakfast and dinner, a guide, a support vehicle and Errachidia transfers are included. No prices are published anywhere on the site; itineraries are quoted individually.
