6 Days Sahara Trails Motorcycle Tour from Errachidia
Errachidia, Morocco
Overview
Six days is where this operator's itineraries stop being a loop around Merzouga and start reaching into the country along the Algerian frontier. The published distances tell the story: 180, 80 to 100, 160, 170 and 90 kilometres across five riding stages, with days four and five both explicitly off-road. The opening is familiar. Orientation, bike setup and a warm-up through the palm trees and Berber villages of the Ziz Valley, then the 180-kilometre run south through Erfoud, with its fossil workshops, and Rissani, the former regional capital, to Merzouga and an optional sunset camel trek. Day three is the circular desert ride, 80 to 100 kilometres of soft sand, black desert trails and rocky paths taking in Khamlia and its live Gnawa music, the M'fis mines and nomadic settlements, ending with a camel ride to a luxury desert camp. Day four is the one that separates this tour from the shorter ones. A hundred and sixty kilometres of off-road past Taouz, a ghost town, along the Algerian border, through fossil beds and terrain the operator describes as moon-like, finishing at a solar-powered off-grid auberge at Ouzina. Day five is another 170 kilometres of mixed sand and rock, visiting the village of Jdaid and its traditional kasbahs before a kasbah-style hotel in Erfoud. Day six is a short 90-kilometre run home through the palm groves and the Ziz gorges, with a farewell lunch in Errachidia before the airport transfer. The package covers the dual-sport or enduro bike, fuel for the whole route, five nights across guesthouses, riads and the desert camp, breakfast and dinner daily, the sunset camel trek, a bilingual motorcycle guide, a support vehicle, Errachidia airport transfers and bottled water during the rides. Flights, lunches, snacks, beverages, attraction tickets, personal gear, which is available on request, travel insurance, the damage deposit and tips are all excluded. Timing matters on this one. The operator recommends October to April, calls May and September manageable, and says June to August is simply too hot for the desert stages. No prices are published on the site; quotes come by WhatsApp or email.
